Where to report a crypto scam
Victims of fraud should call their local police and also report to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre, online at https://antifraudcentre-centreantifraude.ca/report-signalez-eng.htm or by phone at 1-888-495-8501 (weekdays, Eastern time); the two reports are separate. The Competition Bureau shares investment scam advice at https://competition-bureau.canada.ca/en/fraud-and-scams/tips-and-advice/investment-scams, and your provincial or territorial securities regulator, listed at https://www.securities-administrators.ca/, also wants to hear about it. If money has left your account, contact your bank without delay.
FINTRAC, FCAC and privacy complaints
The Financial Consumer Agency of Canada sets out how to complain about a bank at https://www.canada.ca/en/financial-consumer-agency/services/complaints.html. FINTRAC accepts information from the public about suspected money laundering at https://fintrac-canafe.canada.ca/individuals-individus/vol/1-eng, although it cannot deal with personal fraud claims, answer you or help recover funds.
